Greetings all,
My name is Mr. Kelso and I will be teaching your children's English course this year. This should be a very productive and beneficial class for your children. A quick bit about me: I'm married with 3 kids, their ages are 13, 9, and 6. I served 10 years in the USAF as a Munitions Systems Craftsman and have earned a degree in Munitions Systems Technology, basiclly I built bombs. My time in the service taught me the importance of time management, following directions, and of paramont import is personal accountability.
Your children will be exposed to many classic works of literature because it is my opinion that we learn to write from what we read, so we should read works from the masters. I expect my students to read all of the assigned works and to turn in their work on time. They will be asked to write a short response to each reading assignment. It would be a great benefit to your student if you were to allot specific quiet time for them to read each day. This will help them read a little of the assigned readings each day instead of them having to sit and read an entire book in a weekend. Allowing this quiet time and encourageing them to do their reading and finish the assigned homework is all the parental involvment that I could ask for. Please contact me with any concerns.
